Canadian athletes debuted FILA skinsuits and podium wear at the fall World Cups
OTTAWA, ONTARIO – Speed Skating Canada is partnering with FILA, one of the world’s most renowned premium lifestyle sports brands, to outfit Canada’s national short track and long track teams with on-ice technical garments and off-ice apparel for the next four years.
From competition skinsuits to podium wear and off-ice apparel, the new partnership with FILA will provide Canadian skaters with a fresh new look on both national and international stages. This includes appearances at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina, as well as the seven International Skating Union events set to take place in Canadian rinks over the next few seasons.
– Joe Morissette, Chief Executive Officer, Speed Skating Canada“Speed Skating Canada is proud to partner with FILA, a well-respected global brand synonymous with excellence. Together, we’re ensuring that our Canadian athletes are competing in the most advanced race suits in the world. FILA’s blend of precision and technical innovation will help propel our athletes to new heights on the global stage for the remainder of this Olympic cycle.”
Canadian skaters began wearing their new FILA skinsuits and podium wear earlier this fall on the World Cup circuit, where they have captured an impressive 23 medals in long track (5 gold, 11 silver, 7 bronze) and 22 medals in short track (10 gold, 6 silver, 6 bronze). The new black and red designs, featuring a unique maple leaf pattern, helps Canada’s athletes stand out from their competitors both on and off the ice.
The FILA brand is well-regarded within the speed skating community, and outfits national federations from the Netherlands, Norway, and Italy. FILA-sponsored athletes achieved remarkable success last season, taking home 12 medals at the ISU World Short Track Championships in Seoul, confirming their status as technical sponsors in ice sports.
This new partnership will bring Canada’s most successful Olympic sport under the FILA umbrella. With a combined 79 Olympic medals – 42 in long track and 37 in short track – and well over 350 World Championship podiums, Canadians have been a dominant force in both short track and long track speed skating, holding a place alongside the world’s elite.
Canadian speed skating fans will have the opportunity to see the new designs in action on home ice during a pair of upcoming international events this February. These include ISU World Cup Speed Skating in Quebec City from February 2-4, and the prestigious ISU World Speed Skating Championships in Calgary from February 15-18.
